The Easiest Way to Lose Weight
Posted on June 14, 2007 in Health by byronb
Is there really an easy way to lose weight? Is there some magical pill or remedy that can help us to drop those few extra pounds? If it were that easy to lose weight then why do so many people struggle every year with one diet and another?
The truth behind losing weight
Well, as it turns out, dieting and losing weight isn’t that easy and there is no magic pill or remedy. However, some unscrupulous suppliers of herbal remedies will claim their remedy can work miracles. The fact of the matter is that one of the of the easiest ways that you can help yourself to lose weight successfully and keep it off is by exercise.
Whatever diet you follow and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a low carb, low fat, sugar free, calories counting or one of the many “designer†diets, a good diet relies on you taking exercise. No matter which you choose to follow, if you don’t take regular exercise then you will simply not lose weight, it’s as simple as that.
There are many different ways that anyone can take a form of exercise; even those with the busiest schedule can exercise. Not only does excising help you to lose weight but it will also strengthen and boost the immune system, work wonders on your skin, improve your level of fitness and your levels of energy.
Types of exercises
The type of exercise can also make a difference when it comes to helping you to lose weight.
Anaerobic – this type of exercise will burn of carbohydrates more than fat and as such requires much more energy to perform and with this type of exercise you can gain a little weight as you build muscle. However your body will be trimmer and fitter and as such your overall shape will look better. This type of exercise includes yoga, weight lifting or anything that helps you tone your muscles without raising your heart rate.
Aerobic – this type of exercise is the easiest for anyone, it can be done at a pace that suits you and in fact it should be easy as then it will burn off more fat than if you are straining yourself. This form of exercise is the best for beginners or older people and includes many different forms. The best and most simple form of exercise of this type is walking, and it is something that anyone can do and doesn’t cost a thing. This could be a slow simple ten-minute stroll to an hour’s power walking around the park. The important thing to remember is that you want to help raise your heart rate, preferably for at least 30 minutes three times per week. This will help strengthen your heart and raise your metabolism – both benefits you will enjoy during and after your aerobic activity.
The important thing to remember when taking on any form of exercise which is intended for weight loss, that you take it easy and build up. There are two reasons for this, the first it gives your body time to adjust to the new way of life and allows the fitness level to build up and also allows the body to work at a higher level while still burning off that essential fat. Trying to do too much to quickly will lead to burnout and worse yet – injury.
While walking is the most easiest and best way of losing weight while getting fitter and healthier there are many other ways that might be more suitable or pleasant. You could for example take up bicycling, swimming, jogging, running or power walking; these are all suitable forms of exercise that will allow you to eat more freely and lose weight more easily.
