Dating Internet Services

When deciding whether or not to use a dating Internet service, people weigh many different factors. They might wonder what it the right Internet dating services for their particular lifestyle, age group, and preferences. They might wonder if it is safe to meet people in person who seem appealing enough over the Internet. One of the questions that people never address when they talk about participating in an online Internet dating agency, however, is how friendly it is to the non-tech savvy. This was an issue that I had to face recently.

You see, if there is one thing I am not, it is Web savvy. I only recently switched from a dial up Internet service provider! I live in a pretty rural environment, and the Internet is not a big part of day-to-day life out here. Nonetheless, I have been having a lot of trouble finding local singles, and I thought that the dating Internet service might be a good way to remedy that. The problem is that all of the dating Internet services that I looked at were completely baffling to me. With some of them, I couldn’t even figure out how to set up a profile!

It seems to me that dating Internet services are mostly set up for people who spend their entire lives on the Internet. I looked at the dating Internet service scene as a way to meet someone – Just like a classified ad, except on the Web. In reality, however, it is much more elaborate than that. Not only do people post their profiles, but they send messages back and forth, rate people they have dated, setup discussion groups – the works. If you just want to post ads and reply to other people’s ads, there are few dating Internet services available for your use.

As a matter of fact, the only dating Internet service that I found that really fits the bill is craigslist. The great thing about craigslist is that you can post singles dating ads anonymously, have people respond to you, and then go from there. It is every bit as simple as posting an ad in the newspaper, and although there aren’t the same safeguards put on as with the dating Internet service sites, a little bit of caution goes a long way. To date, I haven’t found the right person yet on craigslist, but I am quite optimistic. It is only a matter of time.
